Job Summary
The Subsea Structural Engineer is responsible for delivering structural design and analysis for subsea systems and offshore projects, ensuring technical compliance, quality, and timely execution of engineering deliverables. This role supports proposal and project execution activities, provides technical solutions for subsea structures, and collaborates across multidisciplinary teams to achieve safe and efficient project outcomes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Execute structural design and analysis for subsea structures and associated offshore systems.
  • Manage technical design scope (full or partial) to ensure compliance, quality, and on-time delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Assist the Lead Engineer in the execution of subsea engineering activities for proposals and ongoing projects.
  • Provide sound technical support covering construction, installation, and operational aspects of subsea structural systems.
  • Perform structural analysis using recognised industry software such as SACS and ABAQUS.
  • Undertake design and detailing in accordance with applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., DNV, ISO, API, ASME) and client specifications.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables including design basis, calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, material take-offs, weight control reports, RFQ documentation, and bid evaluations.
  • Identify scope changes and raise change notifications with supporting documentation and estimates.
  • Manage interfaces across disciplines, project management teams, clients, suppliers, and document control.
  • Participate in project, vendor, and interface meetings as required.
  • Support development of in-house design tools as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety objectives, legal requirements, and quality standards.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to team capability development.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong experience in FEED and detailed design of subsea and/or pipeline structures.
  • Proficiency in recognised industry software such as SACS, ABAQUS, and AutoPIPE.
  • Experience in non-linear finite element analysis using ABAQUS or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with dynamic analysis of offshore marine systems using OrcaFlex is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of subsea production systems (SPS) and/or SURF equipment is an advantage.
  • In-depth understanding of structural design codes and offshore engineering standards (e.g., DNV, ISO, API, ASME).
  • Strong analytical and computer simulation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Mathcad; AutoCAD knowledge is an advantage.
  • Ability to plan subsea engineering activities within schedule and budget constraints.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant industry experience in subsea structural engineering.
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Positive attitude towards mentoring and developing junior engineers.
  • Innovative mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities beyond core role responsibilities
