Job Summary
The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for leading and executing structural engineering design and analysis for offshore facilities, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and optimised engineering deliverables. This role involves technical ownership of structural design activities, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior engineers while ensuring projects are delivered within budget, schedule, and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide contractual support and advisory services to project teams in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform roles as Lead, Sub-Lead, or Senior Engineer in project execution, taking ownership of assigned structural engineering tasks.
  • Lead and prepare material requisitions, ensuring alignment with project specifications and requirements.
  • Perform structural design calculations and detailed engineering analysis.
  • Coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Forecast material take-offs (MTOs) for structural design scope.
  • Review and evaluate vendor documents to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Interpret third-party reports such as geotechnical, bathymetric, and metocean data for incorporation into design basis.
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project performance requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and validate detailed engineering calculations and deliverables for client submission.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives to optimise material quantities and design efficiency.
  • Ensure suppliers meet contractual technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Monitor and report engineering progress, ensuring adherence to allocated manhours and budget.
  • Interface with project teams, procurement, and planning functions to support project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Ensure achievement of project quality objectives and timely delivery of engineering outputs.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong expertise in structural engineering design and analysis for offshore oil and gas facilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in SACS software for structural analysis.
  • Working knowledge of USFOS and GRLWEAP for specialised structural and pile analysis.
  • Experience in substructure and topsides in-place analyses, including static, dynamic, and spectral fatigue assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of pre-service analyses, including lifting, load-out, on-bottom stability, and pile driveability.
  • Familiarity with advanced analysis tools such as SESAM, Abaqus, or Ansys is an added advantage.
  • Experience in specialised analyses such as seismic (ELE and ALE), blast, fire, vibration, and wind fatigue assessments is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of offshore design standards, codes, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in structural design and execution of offshore oil and gas projects.
  • Strong academic background (minimum CGPA 3.5 or Second Class Upper or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage engineering deliverables effectively.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
