Job Summary The Senior Hardware Engineer will be part of a multi-national, multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of electronic hardware systems across a range of applications. This role also supports assembly, testing, quality assurance, and site troubleshooting activities, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality products are delivered on time and in compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Support front-end, production, quality, and field service teams with electrical system and component design inquiries based on design rules, technical knowledge, and experience.
Lead and execute sustaining and development projects while supporting daily engineering operations.
Maintain engineering databases, design records, and process documentation.
Design, develop, and test electronic circuits, PCB layouts, and embedded systems
Ensure hardware designs are optimised for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Build, test, and validate hardware prototypes to verify design functionality.
Troubleshoot hardware issues including signal integrity, power distribution, and component failures.
Conduct environmental, thermal, and performance testing to ensure product robustness
Ensure compliance with industry quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. CE, UL, RoHS).
Analyse failure reports and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and performance.
Support transfer of designs into manufacturing and ensure efficient production processes.
Assist in component selection, procurement, and assembly activities.
Provide technical support for internal and external design boards.
Lead implementation of new hardware designs and ensure adherence to design standards.
Define and drive testing procedures and qualification templates for new part introduction in collaboration with test and quality teams.
Establish clear design rules for integration of new components into customer solutions.
Collaborate with procurement teams to support technical evaluation and qualification of new vendors.
Support root cause analysis (RCA) for customer complaints and field issues.
Support test bay troubleshooting and issue resolution activities.
Technical Expertise
Strong experience in hardware design, development, and validation within electronic engineering environments.
Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design and analysis.
Experience in PCB design, layout, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of hardware debugging, failure analysis, and reliability engineering.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements (CE, UL, RoHS)
Exposure to power electronics systems such as inverter, rectifier, PSU, static switch, and controller design is an advantage.
Understanding of communication protocols such as CAN bus and I2C is an advantage.
Experience with simulation tools (e.g. SPICE) and engineering documentation systems is beneficial.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings including schematics, BOMs, and single line diagrams (SLD).
Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of SAP and PDM systems is an advantage.
Qualifications
Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent discipline.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical or hardware design engineering.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills within a multinational environment.
High attention to detail with a disciplined and structured approach to engineering work.
