Job Summary
The Senior Geologist is responsible for leading geological activities for offshore oil and gas assets, including both producing fields and exploration opportunities. This role supports field development planning, subsurface evaluations, and drilling operations through high-quality geological studies, 3D modelling, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, while also providing mentorship to junior geologists.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead geological evaluations for producing assets, greenfield developments, and near-field exploration opportunities.
  • Deliver high-quality geological studies to support field development plans, reserves assessment, and asset optimisation.
  • Build and maintain 3D geological models integrating structural, stratigraphic, and sedimentological data.
  • Interpret geological and seismic data to enhance subsurface understanding and support decision-making.
  • Provide geological input into well planning, including well proposals and post-drill evaluations.
  • Support drilling operations by providing real-time geological insights and recommendations.
  • Present technical findings and updates to internal stakeholders, partners, regulatory authorities, and service providers.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir engineering, drilling, and production.
  • Act as a key interface between development and exploration teams to ensure alignment of subsurface strategies.
  • Mentor and develop junior geologists, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong expertise in development geology, including structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
  • Proven experience in 3D geological modelling and geomodelling techniques.
  • Solid understanding of integrated subsurface workflows, including petrophysics, geophysics, and reservoir engineering.
  • Experience in seismic interpretation to support geological modelling and prospect evaluation.
  • Hands-on experience supporting wellsite geological operations and drilling activities.
  • Strong analytical, interpretation, and problem-solving skills in complex subsurface environments.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings effectively to multidisciplinary and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Geology or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications (MSc or PhD) are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 10–13 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including experience with an operating company.
  • Demonstrated experience in field development geology and subsurface evaluation.
  • Proven ability to work across disciplines and critically evaluate inputs from geophysics, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capability with experience guiding junior team members.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
