Job Summary The Senior Associate, Mechanical is responsible for leading and managing mechanical engineering design activities across the full project lifecycle within the built environment and infrastructure sector. This role provides technical leadership for building and infrastructure mechanical systems, ensuring designs are safe, efficient, compliant, and aligned with project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage mechanical engineering design activities across concept design, schematic design, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and project completion phases.
Provide technical leadership and oversight for mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, utilities, and building services infrastructure.
Review, verify, and approve mechanical engineering deliverables including calculations, drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical reports.
Ensure all mechanical designs comply with project requirements, local authority regulations, international codes, standards, and industry best practices.
Act as the primary technical interface with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and authorities on mechanical engineering matters.
Resolve technical issues arising during design development, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning stages.
Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams including structural, architectural, electrical, civil, and infrastructure disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
Lead equipment selection activities, technical evaluations, and review of vendor and supplier submissions.
Guide and mentor junior engineers to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of engineering outputs.
Support project execution through schedule monitoring, cost control, technical compliance, and quality assurance activities.
Conduct technical site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with design intent, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in mechanical engineering standards, design processes, and technical capability within the team.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of project and contract management within oil and gas projects.
Strong experience in mechanical engineering design for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, utilities, and building services systems.
Sound knowledge of local building regulations and international engineering codes and standards.
Experience in technical evaluations, vendor coordination, and equipment specification development.
Proficiency in mechanical engineering design tools and relevant software such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or equivalent platforms.
Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination within building and infrastructure projects.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and technical leadership capabilities.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
Experience in large-scale commercial, mixed-use, transportation, healthcare, industrial, or infrastructure projects is an added advantage.
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the built environment, infrastructure, construction, or consultancy industry.
Proven experience in leading mechanical engineering activities and managing multidisciplinary coordination.
Ability to manage multiple complex projects within tight deadlines and fast-paced environments.
Strong mentoring capability with the ability to develop and guide junior engineers.
