Job Summary The Senior Account Executive is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining statutory compliance, and supporting the organisation's financial objectives. This role oversees accounts payable and receivable, cash flow management, reconciliations, audit preparation, tax submissions, and provides guidance to junior finance team members while driving continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor the company's cash flow and manage petty cash transactions.
Prepare, review, and process Payment Vouchers (PV), Journal Vouchers (JV), and other accounting entries accurately and in a timely manner
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial records
Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring timely collections and payments.
Perform intercompany reconciliations and maintain accurate intercompany schedules.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and within reporting deadlines.
Prepare audit schedules and ensure supporting documentation is complete and readily available.
Assist in annual external audits and prepare tax analyses and supporting schedules.
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and relevant regulatory authorities.
Prepare and submit statutory tax filings, including Withholding Tax (WHT), Sales and Service Tax (SST), and Goods and Services Tax (GST), where applicable.
Respond to audit and tax queries by providing accurate explanations and supporting documentation through the required submission platforms.
Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory regulations, and company policies.
Supervise, guide, and support junior finance team members to ensure quality and timely completion of work.
Maintain effective filing and document management systems for financial and statutory records.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of finance operations.
Review and verify Payment Vouchers (PV), Purchase Invoices (PI), Sales Invoices (SI), and retention billings in accordance with the company's Delegation of Authority (DOA).
Perform any other accounting, finance, or administrative duties as assigned by Management.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
Hands-on experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and intercompany accounting.
Familiarity with month-end and year-end closing processes, audit preparation, and statutory reporting.
Knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations, including WHT, SST, and GST (where applicable).
Proficiency in computerised accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Qualifications
LCCI Diploma in Accounting, LCCI Diploma in Cost Accounting, or an equivalent qualification in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in accounting or finance within a computerised accounting environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Good communication and written correspondence skills.
Strong sense of integrity, accuracy, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
