Job Summary The Safety/HSE Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and initiatives across onshore and offshore operations. This role works closely with project and operations teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and client expectations while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide contractual support and advisory services to project teams in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Support the HSE Manager in planning, coordinating, and implementing effective HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Provide HSE support to project and operations teams on occupational health, safety, and environmental matters.
Assist in ensuring compliance with HSE standards across onshore, offshore, and vessel operations through regular audits and inspections.
Participate in pre-job planning, project meetings, and client discussions relating to HSE matters.
Support the implementation of company-wide HSE initiatives, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements.
Assist in developing project-specific HSE plans, procedures, and documentation in line with company and client requirements.
Coordinate and support HSE training programmes, toolbox talks, emergency drills, and offshore safety programmes.
Investigate incidents and accidents, support close-out activities, and prepare lessons learned reports for management review.
Manage safety statistics reporting and provide regular HSE performance updates to department management.
Support preparation of HSE documentation for tender and bid submissions when required.
Conduct HSE orientation programmes for new employees and contractors.
Ensure all worksites comply with company HSE policies, procedures, and applicable safety standards.
Support offshore HSE personnel in implementing safety campaigns and promoting safe work practices.
Assist with ad-hoc HSE projects and assignments as required.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of project and contract management within oil and gas projects.
Strong understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental management systems within the oil and gas industry.
Knowledge of HSE standards, regulations, and industry best practices for offshore and onshore operations.
Experience conducting HSE audits, inspections, incident investigations, and safety reporting.
Familiarity with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and other relevant HSE management systems.
Ability to support emergency response planning, safety training, and worksite safety compliance activities.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage operational teams and clients effectively.
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is required.
Experience supporting FPSO, offshore, or shipyard operations is highly advantageous.
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced operational environment.
