Job Summary The Resident Engineer is responsible for overseeing and supervising civil engineering and construction activities, particularly works involving vehicular structures, road projects, piling, and reinforced concrete works. The role involves coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, quality standards, project requirements, and applicable regulations..
Key Responsibilities
Report to the Construction Manager and provide technical and engineering support throughout construction activities.
Manage and oversee construction works near existing tunnels, government infrastructure, utilities, and other sensitive structures.
Coordinate effectively between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
Conduct regular site inspections and checks to monitor construction progress, workmanship, and compliance with approved requirements.
Review and address technical and engineering issues arising during construction activities.
Ensure all construction activities comply with applicable safety procedures, regulations, and project requirements.
Monitor compliance with quality, environmental, health, and safety requirements throughout the construction process.
Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and record-keeping of construction activities and site inspections.
Work closely with project stakeholders to resolve construction issues and maintain progress in accordance with project schedules.
Promote a progress-oriented and collaborative working environment while supporting the project team in achieving construction objectives.
Technical Expertise
Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering construction, particularly piling and reinforced concrete (RC) works.
Hands-on experience in construction supervision for vehicular structures and road projects.
Ability to identify, assess, and resolve technical and engineering issues encountered during construction.
Good understanding of construction quality, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with relevant construction safety certifications and practices, including CSCPM, BCSS, confined space, and work-at-height requirements.
Strong coordination, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering recognised by the Singapore Professional Engineers Board.
Registered Resident Engineer with IES/BCA, with valid certification in Singapore.
Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience with a recognised Civil Engineering degree.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the construction and supervision of vehicular structures and road projects.
Progress-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
