Job Summary
The Project Manager (Data Centre) is responsible for leading the full-cycle construction execution of large-scale data centre projects, typically ranging from 50MW to 100MW. Reporting to the Project Director or Regional Construction Head, this role oversees site operations, subcontractor coordination, compliance management, and project delivery to ensure completion within schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements. The position requires strong leadership capability, technical expertise in mission-critical facilities, and the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure environments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end construction execution of assigned data centre projects.
  • Manage and supervise on-site construction teams, subcontractors, vendors, and supporting project staff.
  • Coordinate closely with client representatives to ensure alignment on construction progress, quality standards, safety compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Chair project meetings, provide weekly progress updates, and resolve site issues proactively and efficiently.
  • Liaise with consultants, local authorities, and internal stakeholders to manage submissions, approvals, and compliance processes.
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets, identify risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee progress reporting, site documentation, variation management, and change order tracking.
  • Manage QA/QC inspections, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with specifications and client standards.
  • Ensure compliance with hyperscale client protocols, including data security requirements and cleanroom standards where applicable.
  • Review subcontractor claims and verify accuracy prior to approval.
  • Provide leadership oversight to project team members, including performance management and development recommendations.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the reporting manager.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong experience managing large-scale, fast-track construction projects, particularly data centre or mission-critical facilities.
  • Solid understanding of MEP integration, structural steel works, and construction sequencing.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale client reporting standards and construction management platforms (e.g. Procore, BIM 360, Primavera).
  • Experience managing compliance processes with local authorities and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in construction coordination tools such as AutoCAD and Navisworks.
  • Strong knowledge of project scheduling software including MS Project and Primavera.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, high-accountability project environments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in large-scale construction projects, with at least 3 years in data centre or mission-critical projects.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP or CCPM (preferred).
  • Data centre-related certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, or ATD (preferred).
  • TNB Competent Person certification for power integration roles (advantageous).
  • Safety certifications such as OSHA or CIDB Green Card (preferred).
