Job Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the successful execution of large-scale LNG and Oil & Gas EPC projects. The role is responsible for coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and project management activities to ensure project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality, cost, and schedule requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in stakeholder coordination, project execution, and delivery within complex, multi-contractor environments.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle
Support project planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting to ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Facilitate communication and coordination between engineering disciplines, contractors, vendors, clients, and project stakeholders.
Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain project objectives.
Review engineering deliverables, technical documentation, and project reports to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Support project controls activities, including schedule tracking, cost monitoring, forecasting, and performance reporting.
Coordinate interface management activities across multiple contractors and project teams.
Participate in project meetings, design reviews, risk assessments, and management reporting activities.
Ensure compliance with applicable HSE, regulatory, and quality requirements throughout project execution.
Support tender evaluations, procurement activities, vendor management, and contract administration as required.
Assist in project handover, commissioning, start-up, and close-out activities where applicable.
Maintain effective relationships with clients, joint venture partners, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Technical Expertise
Strong experience in project engineering and project execution within large-scale Oil & Gas EPC projects.
Demonstrated experience on LNG liquefaction projects across FEED, detailed engineering, or EPC execution phases.
Sound understanding of project management principles, engineering processes, and EPC project delivery methodologies.
Experience working within Joint Venture (JV) or multi-contractor project environments.
Knowledge of project controls, scheduling, cost management, and progress reporting.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 or equivalent project planning and cost tracking systems is advantageous.
Familiarity with Canadian HSE regulations and regulatory requirements for LNG or Oil & Gas projects would be beneficial.
Experience supporting FEED-to-EPC transitions, commissioning, and start-up activities is advantageous.
Experience working with Japanese EPC contractors or within Japanese-led project environments is preferred.
Strong stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills, including engagement with international clients and headquarters teams.
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience as an Engineer or Project Engineer on large-scale Oil & Gas EPC projects.
Valid Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Previous project experience in Canada is mandatory.
Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration would be advantageous
Strong leadership, organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary project environments.
