Job Summary The Principal Engineer, Structural is responsible for leading structural engineering design delivery across the full project lifecycle within the built environment and infrastructure sector, including concept design, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction support, and project completion. This role provides senior technical leadership and ensures all structural engineering deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, authority requirements, and client specifications. The role also plays a key part in ensuring structural safety, constructability, and buildability while driving technical excellence and innovation across the team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of structural engineers delivering design services across all project phases, including concept design, FEED, detailed design, fabrication support, construction, installation, and project close-out.

Provide technical leadership, direction, and approval of structural design deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, authority requirements, and client specifications.
Oversee structural analysis, design verification, and engineering calculations for buildings, infrastructure, and civil-structural systems.
Ensure structural designs are safe, constructible, practical, and aligned with construction methodologies and site constraints.
Act as Project Manager and/or Person-in-Charge (PIC) for structural engineering scope where required.
Serve as key technical interface with clients, authorities, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders on structural engineering matters.
Review and approve structural drawings, calculations, and technical submissions prior to client or authority submission.
Lead coordination with multidisciplinary teams including architectural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, and civil disciplines to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
Manage project delivery to ensure adherence to schedule, budget, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and constructability evaluations to optimise structural solutions.
Conduct site inspections during construction phases to ensure compliance with approved structural designs and specifications.
Drive continuous improvement, technical excellence, and adoption of best practices in structural engineering design and delivery.
Mentor and develop junior engineers to strengthen technical capability and leadership within the structural team.
Technical Expertise
Strong expertise in mechanical engineering design across the full project lifecycle within consultancy or EPC environments.
Strong expertise in structural engineering design, analysis, and verification for buildings and infrastructure projects.
Deep knowledge of relevant building codes, structural standards, and authority submission requirements.
Proficiency in structural engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of construction methodologies, buildability, and site execution constraints.
Experience in multidisciplinary coordination within infrastructure or built environment projects.
Strong capability in technical governance, design review, and engineering approval processes.
Proven ability to manage technical risks and ensure engineering quality under project constraints and deadlines.
Qualifications
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or actively working towards professional registration (preferred).
Minimum 12–15 years’ experience in structural engineering within the built environment, infrastructure, or building consultancy sectors.
Strong experience leading structural design teams and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in complex project environments.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with clients, authorities, and contractors.
Proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.
Experience in large-scale building or infrastructure projects (e.g., commercial, transport, institutional, or public infrastructure) is highly preferred.
