Job Summary The Principal Engineer, Mechanical is responsible for leading mechanical engineering design delivery across the full project lifecycle, including concept design, detailed engineering, construction documentation, authority submissions, site support, and project completion. This role provides senior technical leadership, ensuring all engineering outputs meet applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. The role also drives technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement while acting as a key client interface and providing expert guidance on complex mechanical engineering matters.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers delivering engineering services across all project stages, including concept design, detailed design, construction documentation, authority submissions, site support, and project close-out.
Provide technical leadership, oversight, and final approval of mechanical engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
Develop, standardise, and continuously improve mechanical engineering design standards, technical specifications, workflows, and engineering processes.
Lead project execution to ensure delivery of high-quality engineering outcomes within approved budgets, schedules, and contractual requirements.
Act as Project Manager (PM) and/or Person-in-Charge (PIC) for key mechanical engineering projects where required.
Serve as Professional Engineer (PE) / Qualified Person (QP) for statutory submissions, technical certifications, and authority approvals where applicable.
Act as primary technical interface for clients, ensuring clear communication, alignment of expectations, and strong client satisfaction.
Coordinate with clients, authorities, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical, design, and site execution issues.
Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, value engineering, and constructability reviews to optimise project outcomes.
Drive capability development within the team through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing to strengthen technical depth and leadership pipeline.
Promote engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across all phases of project delivery.
Technical Expertise
Strong expertise in mechanical engineering design across the full project lifecycle within consultancy or EPC environments.
Deep knowledge of mechanical engineering codes, standards, and regulatory authority requirements.
Proven capability in leading complex, large-scale engineering projects with full responsibility for technical delivery.
Strong experience in technical governance, design review, and engineering approval processes.
Expertise in value engineering, risk assessment, and constructability analysis.
Strong capability in stakeholder engagement, client management, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Demonstrated ability to make sound technical and commercial decisions in complex project environments.
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) and Qualified Person (QP) in Singapore.
Extensive experience in mechanical engineering design within consultancy or EPC environments.
Proven track record in managing complex, large-scale engineering projects.
Strong leadership experience in mentoring and developing high-performing engineering teams.
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong ability to drive innovation, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
