Job Summary
The Principal Engineer (Electrical Design) is a senior technical leader responsible for delivering complex electrical engineering design across building services, infrastructure, and multi-disciplinary projects. This role provides high-level technical direction, ensures design compliance with relevant standards, and leads engineering teams throughout the full project lifecycle. The position also acts as a key authority in electrical design, supporting project delivery, client engagement, and technical excellence across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers delivering electrical design services across the full project lifecycle, including concept design, detailed design, contract documentation, authority submissions, site administration, and project completion.
  • Provide technical direction, review, and approval of electrical design deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Standardise and continuously improve electrical engineering design standards, guidelines, and technical specifications.
  • Manage project delivery to ensure quality outcomes, timely completion, and adherence to budget and fee targets.
  • Act as Project In-Charge (PIC) and/or Project Manager (PM) where required.
  • Serve as Registered Qualified Person (QP) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) for statutory submissions, certifications, and regulatory approvals.
  • Act as the primary technical interface for clients on electrical engineering matters, ensuring effective communication and high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Liaise with clients, authorities, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical and project-related issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement in technical capability, design quality, and professional development within the engineering team.
  • Support multidisciplinary coordination to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong expertise in electrical engineering design for building services and infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of high-voltage systems and complex electrical network design.
  • Strong understanding of Singapore Codes of Practice and regulatory authority submission processes.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in consultancy environments.
  • Strong capability in project management, including cost control, scheduling, and delivery performance.
  • Ability to resolve complex engineering challenges and provide sound technical judgement.
  • Strong client management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) and Qualified Person (QP) in Singapore.
  • Extensive experience in electrical design within an engineering consultancy environment.
  • Proven track record in leading complex infrastructure or building services projects.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.
