Job Summary The Piping Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Piping Discipline across offshore and EPC projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering outputs from design through to fabrication and construction. This role provides technical leadership across piping design, stress analysis, materials, and 3D modelling, while ensuring compliance with project specifications, international codes, and HSE requirements. The position also plays a key role in resource planning, team development, and cross-discipline coordination to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Piping Discipline, including piping layout, 3D modelling, stress engineering, materials engineering, material handling, E3D administration, and piping design teams.
Provide clear direction, leadership, and motivation to the piping team, ensuring alignment with project objectives and delivery targets
Plan, prioritise, and allocate resources effectively to meet project schedules and deliverables.
Oversee the delivery of piping engineering deliverables for fabrication and construction phases.
Ensure timely release of fabrication and construction deliverables from the engineering team in accordance with project schedules.
Interface with Planning and Construction teams to provide engineering input for fabrication and installation activities.
Provide technical solutions to construction and installation issues during project execution.
Enforce compliance with piping design standards, company specifications, international codes, and industry best practices.
Ensure compliance with class requirements and project-specific technical standards.
Provide technical guidance and review for piping-related engineering activities and deliverables.
Coordinate inter-discipline engineering activities and participate in 3D model and constructability reviews.
Review and manage technical queries, deviations, and concessions
Oversee E3D model integrity, data accuracy, and configuration management.
Ensure full compliance with HSE requirements and engineering safety standards.
Support bid and tender activities, including man-hour estimation, scope definition, and technical input.
Participate in engineering management meetings and project progress reviews.
Lead talent management activities, including succession planning, performance reviews, and development planning.
Drive recruitment activities in collaboration with HR to ensure timely resource fulfilment.
Foster knowledge sharing, technical development, and capability building within the discipline.
Conduct and support technical and behavioural training initiatives.
Promote continuous improvement in engineering processes, digitalisation, standardisation, and lessons learned implementation.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of project and contract management within oil and gas projects.
Strong expertise in piping engineering design, layout development, and offshore/EPC project execution
Advanced knowledge of 3D modelling systems (E3D), piping stress analysis tools (e.g. Caesar II), and engineering data management systems.
Strong understanding of piping materials, pipe supports, weight estimation, and fabrication/construction engineering requirements.
In-depth knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, NORSOK, etc.).
Strong understanding of constructability, offshore installation, and fabrication methodologies.
Proven ability to resolve complex technical and construction-related engineering issues.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline
Minimum 20 years’ experience in piping engineering within FPSO, offshore oil & gas, or EPC environments.
At least 3–5 years in a managerial or discipline lead role.
Proven experience as Section Head or Lead Piping Engineer.
Strong communication skills, with ability to present technical issues clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
High level of commercial awareness, problem-solving ability, and decision-making capability.
Ability to work under pressure in complex, multicultural project environments.
Visionary leadership with ability to steer discipline strategy and performance.
