Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical & Static / Rotating Equipment Inspector to oversee inspection activities for mechanical, static, and rotating equipment across site-based oil & gas, energy, and industrial projects. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, quality requirements, and regulatory obligations while providing technical leadership to inspection teams and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate inspection activities for static equipment, rotating equipment, tanks, and associated mechanical systems at project sites.
  • Ensure all inspection activities are performed in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Review inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality documentation, inspection reports, and vendor submissions.
  • Conduct site inspections, surveillance, audits, and assessments to verify compliance with approved procedures and engineering requirements.
  • Monitor construction, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operational activities related to mechanical equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to inspection personnel and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Identify non-conformances, quality concerns, and potential risks, ensuring timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders on inspection schedules, findings, and technical matters.
  • Support project quality assurance and quality control programmes through effective reporting and documentation management.
  • Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and project meetings to ensure successful project execution.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements.
  • Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports, technical assessments, and recommendations to management and project teams.

Technical Expertise
  • Extensive experience in multi-discipline inspection with strong specialisation in rotating equipment.
  • Hands-on site inspection experience covering static equipment, rotating equipment, and storage tanks.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection methodologies, quality control processes, and industry standards applicable to mechanical equipment.
  • Experience leading inspection teams and coordinating multidisciplinary inspection activities on complex projects.
  • Familiarity with equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operational inspection requirements.
  • Ability to identify technical issues, assess risks, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Experience with Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) would be advantageous.
  • Experience inspecting specialised rotating equipment such as turbine generators, Enhanced Gas Recovery (EGR) systems, Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPP), and carbon capture facilities would be beneficial.
  • Strong technical reporting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years of total experience in professional multi-discipline inspection activities, including significant experience specialising in rotating equipment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Lead Inspector or equivalent leadership position.
  • Demonstrated site-based experience in tank inspection. Shop, shipyard, or module yard experience will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated site-based experience in static and rotating equipment inspection. Shop, shipyard, or module yard experience will not be considered.
  • Valid CSWIP 3.1 certification or internationally recognised equivalent
  •  Valid API 653 Tank Inspection certification.
  • IEC certification would be advantageous
  • CompEx certification would be advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to work effectively in challenging site environments.
