Job Summary The Junior Architect / Architectural Designer supports the design and delivery of industrial, data centre, and mission-critical projects. The role involves working closely with senior architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop architectural solutions from concept through detailed design, ensuring compliance with project requirements, local regulations, and relevant industry standards. This position provides strong exposure to large-scale EPCM projects within a collaborative, BIM-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the development of architectural concepts, layouts, plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and detailed design drawings.
Produce architectural documentation across all project stages, including Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Tender Documentation, Construction Documentation, and As-Built drawings.
Coordinate architectural design with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
Participate in BIM modelling, clash detection, and multidisciplinary coordination using Autodesk Revit and other BIM platforms.
Ensure designs comply with Malaysian building regulations, local authority requirements, client design briefs, and relevant international codes and standards.
Prepare design presentations, technical reports, specifications, authority submission documents, and related project deliverables.
Review drawings and documentation for quality, accuracy, consistency, and compliance with office standards.
Attend internal coordination sessions, client meetings, consultant meetings, and site meetings, supporting resolution of design and technical issues.
Assist during tender and construction stages, including review of shop drawings, RFIs, material submissions, and technical queries.
Support authority submissions and statutory approval processes where required.
Contribute to BIM implementation, design standardisation, quality improvement initiatives, and workflow optimisation.
Perform other duties as assigned by senior architects or project leadership.
Technical Expertise
Strong understanding of architectural design principles, detailing, construction methodology, and construction documentation.
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
Working knowledge of BIM processes, coordination, and clash detection workflows.
Familiarity with Malaysian Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL) and local authority submission procedures.
Understanding of industrial, data centre, or mission-critical facility design is an advantage.
Ability to produce coordinated construction drawings and technical documentation.
Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture.
LAM Part I qualification or equivalent is preferred.
1–3 years of architectural design experience.
Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, logistics, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, healthcare, data centre, or EPCM projects is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail with good organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams within a fast-paced project environment.
Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to learn and develop professionally.
