HEAD OF DEPARTMENT – HSIE (HISTORY & GEOGRAPHY)

Prospero Teaching are partnered with a respected, independent school in South West Sydney, is seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of HSIE to lead their dynamic Humanities faculty. This leadership position offers the opportunity to shape curriculum, mentor staff, and drive academic excellence in a values-based environment.
We’re looking for a forward-thinking educational leader who:
Has deep curriculum knowledge in Stage 4–6 History and Geography
Provides clear instructional leadership and models best teaching practice
Leads curriculum planning, assessment, and quality assurance across the HSIE department
Supports and mentors a team of dedicated educators to foster professional growth
Uses data to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes
Builds a positive and collaborative faculty culture aligned with the College’s values
To be successful in this HSIE leadership role, you will have:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education within HSIE specifically
NESA accreditation (or eligibility to obtain it)
Proven experience in a middle or senior leadership position (e.g., Faculty Leader, Coordinator)
A track record of improving student outcomes and leading pedagogical innovation
An understanding of inclusive education, behaviour support, and student wellbeing
Strong communication, organisation, and team leadership skills
Full Australian working rights
