Job Summary
The ELV Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, coordination, testing, and commissioning of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems across infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and EPCM projects. The role involves developing technical solutions, preparing engineering deliverables, supporting project execution, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and client requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop ELV systems, ensuring compliance with client requirements, statutory regulations, and industry standards
  • Prepare engineering deliverables including design drawings, specifications, calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation.
  • Develop and review ELV system layouts, schematics, network architecture drawings, and system integration documentation.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), budgetary cost estimates, and Schedule of Prices for ELV systems.
  • Produce design briefs and technical submissions for client review and approval.
  • Coordinate ELV system requirements with electrical, mechanical, ICT, telecommunications, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Attend Client Consultant Meetings (CCM), technical meetings, progress meetings, and BIM coordination meetings.
  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to obtain technical information, product specifications, and budgetary pricing.
  • Review and verify contractor claims, material submissions, shop drawings, and method statements for ELV works.
  • Conduct site inspections, monitoring, and quality assessments during construction, testing, and commissioning stages.
  • Coordinate activities between contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Support EPCM projects through feasibility studies, detailed engineering, technical reporting, and project execution activities.
  • Perform constructability reviews to ensure practicality, maintainability, and operational effectiveness of proposed designs.
  • Develop engineering standards, specifications, templates, and best practices in collaboration with project leadership.
  • Prepare engineering reports by analysing project requirements, technical data, and performance metrics.
  • Provide technical support and resolve engineering issues during design, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients and stakeholders, providing technical justification and design defence when required.
  • Support business development initiatives and proposal preparation activities when required.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams and contractors to improve quality and project delivery standards.
  • Contribute to value engineering initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimise project cost, schedule, quality, and HSSE performance.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, professional engineering standards, and Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) requirements.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of ELV system design, engineering, and implementation.
  • Experience in preparing ELV system drawings, specifications, BOQs, and cost estimates.
  • Familiarity with network architecture design, structured cabling systems, and integrated building technologies.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian regulatory requirements, including UBBL, SPAN requirements, Malaysian Standards, and relevant international standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with Navisworks, Revit, and BIM environments.
  • Experience in engineering coordination, multidisciplinary design reviews, and project execution.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, testing, commissioning, and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to review shop drawings, technical submissions, contractor claims, and construction documentation.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working within EPCM project environments is advantageous.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in ELV engineering, design, and project delivery.
  • Registered as a Graduate Engineer or Engineering Technologist with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), or as a Technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with clients, consultants, contractors, and senior executives.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
