Job Summary
The Electrical Technician is responsible for supporting both the construction/commissioning and operational phases of a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant. This role ensures the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all electrical systems through effective maintenance practices, system implementation, and technical support in line with operational and OEM requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of electrical maintenance systems, including SOPs, maintenance plans, schedules, and asset management programmes.
  • Assist in establishing predictive and preventive maintenance programmes, spare parts inventory, and Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Identify and procure required tools and test equipment for electrical maintenance activities.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining a functional electrical workshop.
  • Support engineering teams in reviewing technical specifications, contractor submissions, and project deliverables.
  • Participate in commissioning, performance testing, and plant start-up activities, ensuring compliance with OEM and project requirements.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all plant electrical systems, including MV/LV switchgear, generators, motors, transformers, excitation systems, UPS/DC systems, cabling, and associated balance of plant equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electrical documentation and maintenance records.
  • Support long-term maintenance programmes with OEM providers.
  • Lead troubleshooting activities and perform root cause analysis during unplanned equipment failures.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards at all times.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong hands-on experience in electrical maintenance within power generation environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of CCGT systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and auxiliary systems.
  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with OEM maintenance programmes and requirements is advantageous.
  • Experience with Siemens SGT-800 gas turbines is an added advantage.

Qualifications
  • Recognised Electrical Technician Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience in a power plant or similar environment.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and results-oriented approach to work.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience working in a multicultural or international environment is an added advantage.
