Job Summary
The Control Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, integration, testing, and commissioning of industrial automation and control systems. The role focuses on SCADA, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Power Management Systems (PMS), ensuring reliable and efficient operation of control systems throughout the project lifecycle. The Control Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver compliant, high-quality automation solutions that meet client and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, configure, and troubleshoot control and automation systems for industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Support the engineering, integration, testing, commissioning, and operation of SCADA, BMS, and PMS systems.
  • Prepare and review I/O lists, signal databases, tag lists, and control system documentation.
  • Develop Cause & Effect matrices, control narratives, and Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
  • Prepare network architecture drawings and system integration documentation.
  • Perform PLC, RTU, and SCADA system configuration, programming support, and integration activities.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and ELV disciplines to gather and validate system requirements.
  • Interface and integrate third-party systems using industrial communication protocols and networking technologies.
  • Monitor system performance and support troubleshooting during factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and operational phases.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, cybersecurity requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, technical specifications, and design deliverables in accordance with project requirements.
  • Produce design briefs and technical submissions for client review and approval.
     
  • Attend Client Consultant Meetings (CCM), technical meetings, progress meetings, and BIM coordination meetings.
  • Review and verify contractor claims, material submissions, shop drawings, and method statements.
  • Conduct site inspections, construction monitoring, and commissioning activities to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Coordinate activities between contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Support EPCM projects through feasibility studies, detailed engineering, technical reporting, presentations, and project execution.
  • Perform constructability reviews considering operational, maintenance, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, and design documentation.
  • Resolve technical issues encountered during design, construction, testing, and commissioning stages.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to internal teams and contractors where required.
  • Support business development activities and proposal preparation when required.
  • Contribute to value engineering initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimise project cost, schedule, quality, and HSSE performance.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, engineering standards, professional ethics, and Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) requirements.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation, control systems, and instrumentation engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Power Management Systems (PMS).
  • Proficiency in PLC, RTU, and intelligent field device integration.
  • Experience in preparing and verifying I/O lists, control logic, Cause & Effect matrices, and Functional Design Specifications.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, and IEC 61850.
  • Familiarity with PLC panels, field instrumentation, signal interfacing, and networking systems.
  • Experience in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system performance verification.
  • Knowledge of network architecture design and industrial cybersecurity principles.
  • Ability to prepare technical specifications, IFC drawings, engineering reports, and design documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary EPCM project environments.
  • Data Centre project experience would be considered an advantage.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in automation, control systems, or industrial engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in SCADA, BMS, PMS, PLC, and system integration projects.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as within multidisciplinary teams.
