Job Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding market presence within the construction industry. This role focuses on building strategic client relationships, identifying and converting new business opportunities, leading bid strategies, and securing profitable contracts. The position also plays a key role in strengthening commercial governance, enhancing brand positioning, and leading high-performing tender and business development teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve defined sales, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new clients and project opportunities within the target market.
  • Build and maintain strong client networks while gathering market intelligence and monitoring competitor activities.
  • Review and provide strategic input on bid proposals in consultation with senior management.
  • Act as Bid Manager for large and complex projects, ensuring alignment of technical, commercial, and contractual elements.
  • Lead client negotiations on commercial terms, pricing, and contract conditions to secure favourable outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with tender, engineering, and operational teams to ensure cohesive project delivery strategies.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop business development and tender team members to enhance performance and capability.
  • Strengthen and safeguard the organisation’s brand, corporate identity, and market reputation.
  • Ensure adherence to market best practices, commercial frameworks, and contractual standards.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong understanding of construction industry standards and practices, particularly in ground improvement works.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical design principles with the ability to manage geotechnical solution development.
  • Sound commercial acumen with strong understanding of contract structures and project financial considerations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and related productivity tools.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and dispute resolution capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in team building, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence internal management and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8–12 years’ working experience in the construction industry.\
  • Experience in ground improvement projects is an added advantage.
  • Proven track record in client acquisition, bid management, and project wins.
